Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Mausoleum Maintenance and Repair Works
The Sokollu Mehmed Pasha complex in Eyüp was endowed by Sokollu Mehmed Pasha and İsmihan Sultan, with Mimar Sinan completing its tomb, madrasa, and fountain in 1568-1569 and its darülkurra in 1579, making it a compact monument of the Ottoman classical period.
Two faces of the tomb front the street, and it stands on the same axis as the classroom of the madrasa. In its interior, eight round niches are set into the corners of the octagon. With seven windows and a door opened between these niches, the octagonal prismatic body is transformed into a sixteen-sided one.
